In 2021, we rebranded as The Equality Foundation, with a focus on addressing racial inequality in public services and working towards improving the lives of Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities.

We are based in the UK, located at Dawes Road Hub, 20 Dawes Road, London, SW6 7EN.

We occasionally send optional questionnaires to learn more about our contacts and supporters, which may include collecting sensitive data like political views or opinions on current events. We also track your engagement with our emails, such as whether you opened them or clicked on links.

Explaining the Legal Bases We Rely On:

We process your data based on the following legal bases:

Legitimate Interest: We process data to pursue our legitimate interests as a charity, which includes sending you information about socio-economic inequality, events, campaigns, and ways to contribute.

Legal Compliance: If required by law, we may collect, store, and process your data. For example, we share your contact details with HMRC if you claim Gift Aid on your donation.

Consent: In specific situations, we may process your data with your consent, such as when you express interest in joining or setting up a local group.

How and Why We Use Your Personal Data:

We use your personal data to achieve our charitable objectives, raise awareness of socio-economic inequality, and educate on its drivers and impacts. Additionally, we inform you of opportunities to get involved and support us, process donations, and analyse engagement data to better achieve our objectives. We use anonymised data to measure the impact of content on our website and detect trends in the demographics and interests of our supporters.

How Long We Keep Your Information:

We retain your information for specific periods, such as 6 years after your last donation, 5 years after your last engagement with our mailings, and 3 years after your last engagement with our staff. For job applicants, we keep the data for a maximum of 12 months, and for current volunteers, we retain data for up to 7 years after placement ends.

How We Store Your Data:

We store your data securely in password-protected and encrypted systems, including a CRM accessible only to staff. Sensitive data on paper is kept securely in our locked office.

Who We Share Your Personal Data With:

We only share your data when necessary for the intended purpose and with trusted third parties who take data protection seriously. This may include our bank, bookkeeper, delivery services, HMRC, IT company, event venues, email and cloud storage providers, and web analytics software. We never share data with third parties for their own purposes.
